Welcome to the HOVERAir AQUA family – the world's first waterproof flying camera that can take off and land on water.
This guide gives you everything you need: a safe first flight, battery care, HOVERCare protection, and real‑world support.
Quick tip: keep this page bookmarked. A few simple habits will save you from 90% of common issues.
1. Before your first flight – what’s in the box
Your AQUA comes with a handy quick start card. Here’s what it says (we’re adding a bit more detail to help you succeed).
Step‑by‑step first power‑on
- Charge the aircraft – connect the charger to AQUA before the first use.
- Power on – press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The screen will light up once.
- Download Hover App – scan the QR code from the card or search “Hover” in your app store.
- Connect – open the app and follow the pairing instructions.
That’s it. Once connected, you’re ready to learn the controls.
2. Takeoff & landing – the simple way
From the official card:
- Takeoff (land or calm water) – place AQUA on a flat outdoor surface or calm water. Stand at least 3 metres away. Wait until OmniTerrain activates, then press the Takeoff button on the Lighthouse.
- Landing – press the Return to Home button on the Lighthouse. AQUA will automatically return and land.
📌 What the icons mean:
- OmniTerrain icon lights up when the aircraft is ready for advanced surface following (including water).
- Lighthouse Tracking icon lights up when the connection is solid.
✅ Only when both icons are on can you use water‑specific modes like Surf, SUP, or Kayak follow.
3. Water operation guidelines (printed on your card – please follow strictly)
Your AQUA is waterproof, but only when you respect these rules:
- Always ensure OmniTerrain is activated before flying over water.
- Avoid large waves, strong currents, or floating debris (weeds, trash, etc.).
- Do not take off or land on beaches, muddy shores, or sandy water surfaces – sand can get into motors or sensors.
-
After water use:
- Wipe the aircraft dry immediately.
- Do not store the battery while it is wet.
- Once dry, place the battery in the waterproof battery bag and store the aircraft in the waterproof carry bag.
🚫 Ignoring these guidelines is the #1 reason for water damage claims being rejected.
4. Charging & battery care (the #1 real‑world issue)
From the official Charging Hub and Smart Battery manuals.
Golden rule – the battery itself is NOT waterproof
Only the fully sealed aircraft is waterproof. Never let the battery touch water or moisture.
Charging hub – do’s and don’ts
- Use the official 65W PD charger – third‑party chargers may cause slow charging, stopping, or safety issues.
- The hub charges the higher‑power battery first (e.g. 3 bars before 1 bar).
- Unplug the hub when batteries are full – leaving it connected can prevent new batteries from activating.
- Indicator lights:
- 4 lights slow blink → recoverable battery fault, wait.
- 4 lights fast blink → battery is dead, replace it.
- If the charging hub gets wet inside – stop using it (IPX4 is splash‑proof only).
After every water session (critical)
- Remove the battery immediately.
- Wipe dry with a lint‑free cloth (connectors too).
- Air‑dry for at least 2 hours – no hairdryers or heat guns.
- Only charge when completely dry.
- If you see swelling, odd smell, or overheating → stop using, place in a safe area (away from flammables) and contact support.
Long‑term storage: 40–60% charge, 15–25°C (59–77°F), recharge every 2 months.
Storing completely empty for weeks will permanently damage the battery.
5. Lighthouse – pairing & LED signals
Pairing (first time or new Lighthouse)
- Press and hold Up + Rotate Left for 3 seconds → Lighthouse enters pairing mode, then AQUA binds to it.
- Lost or broken Lighthouse? You must unbind the old one first (if possible). If you throw away a lost Lighthouse without unbinding, the new one won’t connect – that’s user responsibility.
What the lights mean (water flight = solid green only)
| Lighthouse light | Meaning | Your action |
|---|---|---|
| Blue slow blink | On but not connected | Wait or re‑pair |
| Blue solid | Connected, but OmniTerrain OFF | ❌ Do NOT take off over water |
| Green slow blink | OmniTerrain ON, Lighthouse tracking not active | Land flight only |
| Green solid | OmniTerrain + Lighthouse tracking both active | ✅ Safe for water takeoff |
6. HOVERCare – protects both AQUA and Lighthouse
We strongly recommend HOVERCare. It now covers accidental damage for both the drone and the Lighthouse – including water damage from honest mistakes (but not from ignoring the guidelines above).
👉 Check HOVERCare pricing for your country:
https://uk.hoverair.com/pages/hovercare
(switch to your local region – prices vary)
HOVERCare is especially valuable for water sports: crashes, drops, or a wet Lighthouse become much cheaper to fix.
7. Potential issues – and how to avoid them
Based on real user experience and official warranty terms.
| Issue | Typical cause | Warranty status | Best solution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water damage rejected | USB cover open, battery wet, or flying without OmniTerrain over water | Not covered | ✅ Follow the water guidelines strictly. If water still gets in, contact support – but expect paid repair. |
| Battery swollen / won’t charge | Charging when hot (>40°C) or storing at 0% for weeks | Not covered (wear & tear) | Buy spare batteries. Charge at room temp, store at 40–60%. |
| Lighthouse lost or broken | Dropped in water, crushed in bag | Appearance parts not covered, but HOVERCare includes it | Get HOVERCare. If lost, contact support to remotely unbind. |
| Flyaway over water | Strong wind, signal loss, ignoring low battery | Not covered (non‑product quality) | Set lost connection to “Hover”. Consider third‑party insurance or HOVERCare replacement. |
| Firmware / pairing issue | Interrupted update | Usually fixable | Press Down + Rotate Right for 3 sec to enable Wi‑Fi broadcast, then re‑pair via App. |
8. Warranty basics (for your region)
-
Warranty starts the day you receive the product.
- EU/UK: 2 years (statutory)
- Other pre‑order countries (Norway, Malaysia, Canada, Switzerland, Australia): 1 year (main board & battery; appearance parts not covered)
-
Not covered (even within warranty):
- Water damage from improper sealing or ignoring flight rules
- Crashes, drops, burns, lost device
- Third‑party chargers / batteries
- Modified or disassembled devices
- Scratches, worn propellers
- Keep proof of purchase – order confirmation + unboxing video (showing serial number and no damage) for at least 7 days.
If you notice an issue within 7 days of delivery, email support immediately. After 7 days, we assume the product arrived perfect.
9. Official AQUA page & pre‑order (remember to switch your country)

Tip: use the country/language switcher on the website to see your local availability (Norway, Malaysia, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, EU, UK).
10. Need help? Contact support or join the community
📧 Official support email
support@hoverair.com
To help us solve your issue as quickly as possible, please include both of these when you write:
- Device log (from the Hover App – go to Me→ Help and Feedback→ Upload Logs)
- Lighthouse log (the same export includes Lighthouse data if it was connected)
🧠 Why this matters: logs tell us exactly what your AQUA and Lighthouse were doing before the issue happened. Without logs, we have to guess – which takes much longer.
Also include:
- Order number
- Product serial number (on the box or battery compartment)
- Clear photos or videos of the problem
- A short description of what happened

The community is great for advice – but for warranty or repairs, always email support (with logs).
Final pro tips – avoid 90% of problems
- Never trust the battery with water – it’s the weakest link.
- Always wait for solid green light on the Lighthouse before water takeoff.
- Let the battery cool to room temperature before charging.
- Store at 40–60% charge – never leave it empty for weeks.
- Get HOVERCare – especially if you fly over waves or rocks.
- Keep your receipt and unboxing video – you’ll thank yourself later.
- Always include logs when contacting support – it’s the fastest way to a fix.
This guide is based on official HOVERAir documents and the in‑box quick start card (February 2025). Zero Zero Technology reserves the final interpretation of warranty terms. If in doubt, the official English Disclaimer and Safety Manual prevails.
Safe flights and amazing shots – the water is yours. 🌊✈️
