Hey there, HOVERAir enthusiasts! We’re excited to announce that Remote ID is now available for your HOVERAir X1 PRO and X1 PROMAX flying cameras. This means you can fly without needing an external broadcast module. Let’s dive into the details!
What is Remote ID?
Remote ID is like a digital license plate for your flying camera. It helps authorities and other airspace users identify and locate your drone during flight. This ensures everyone stays safe and coordinated in the skies.
How to Get Started with Remote ID
-
Check Your Flying Camera:
- Make sure your HOVERAir X1 PRO or X1 PROMAX is running firmware version v7.9.3 or higher (released in April 2025).
- Ensure your HOVERAir app is version v2.33.0 or higher (released in August 2025).
-
Find Your Remote ID Serial Number:
- Open the HOVERAir app: App → Hover → Me→My Hover → Select your flying camera → View Serial Number (SN).
- Look for the Remote ID SN, which starts with “2095F…”. Copy and save this number; you’ll need it later.
-
Verify Compliance:
- Visit the FAA Remote ID Declaration of Compliance database: FAA Remote ID DOC Database.
- Search for “ZERO ZERO ROBOTICS” to find the compliance listings for your HOVERAir X1 PRO and X1 PROMAX.
Commercial Flying Requirements
Just enabling Remote ID isn’t enough if you’re flying commercially. Here’s what you need to do:
-
Register Your Flying Camera:
- Go to FAA DroneZone and create an account.
- Choose the “Part 107 – Commercial Use” registration path.
- Provide and link the Remote ID Serial Number during registration.
- Complete the required information and pay the registration fee.
- Get Your Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
-
Check Airspace Authorization:
- If you’re flying in controlled airspace, apply for LAANC (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability).
-
Follow All Part 107 Operational Rules:
- Keep your flying camera below 400 feet AGL.
- Maintain visual contact with your drone at all times.
- Avoid flying over non-participating people or moving vehicles.
- Use anti-collision lighting for night flights and complete night flight training.
- No hazardous materials or delivery operations.
- Always yield to manned aircraft and emergency operations.
